Professional Standards Program

Continuing education is essential for educational professionals to manage the rapidly changing conditions in the educational workplace.

The National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP) provides the opportunity for members to enhance their professional competencies through participation in the Professional Standards Program (PSP).

Program Overview

Certifications

The PSP program allows NAEOP members to take progressive steps to their desired professional growth level through earning one or more of the following PSP certificates:

  • Basic

  • Associate Professional

  • Advanced I

  • Advanced II

  • Advanced III

  • Associate Degree

  • Bachelor Degree

  • Master Degree

  • Doctoral Degree

Once a member meets the requirements for Advanced III or above, they may apply for one of the following:
     Certified Educational Office Employee (CEOE)
     Certified Educational Support Employee (CESE)

Each certificate is based on requirements in three areas: education, experience, and association responsibility. For continued growth, members upgrade or recertify their highest-level PSP certificate level within five (5) years from the anniversary date. The CEOE and CESE are sustained distinctions with no need for recertification and are valid with NAEOP membership.

Enrollment

A member may enroll in the program at any level. NAEOP membership must be continuous while pursuing a PSP certificate.

State and local PSP Chairmen are available for assistance in guiding you through the certification process. Contact  NAEOP for the name of the state or local chairman in your area.

Applications

PSP applications may be submitted at any time during the year and will be reviewed once a month. Applicants are notified as soon as all requirements are reviewed. Qualifiers will receive PSP certificates by mail.  The member’s PSP certificate achievement will be shared with their Administrators if contact information was supplied in the Application.

An Awards/PSP banquet is held during the NAEOP annual conference to recognize members who have earned a PSP certificate or the distinction of CEOE or CESE.

PSP Application Worksheets

The worksheets do not replace Form IIa, Form IIb, Form V or Form Va.  Forms are required to be submitted and include appropriate signatures.

Use of the Excel Worksheets are not required.  They are an optional resource to be utilized to list in-service/education hours and association responsibility for application or recertification, as applicable.
